About
PostGradMed
PostGradMed.AU is an independent guide to postgraduate medical training in Australia — built for medical students in their final years and junior doctors navigating the next step.
The Australian medical system is genuinely complicated. Between intern allocation portals, specialist college timelines, AMC examinations, AHPRA registration categories, and Area of Need certificates, the information you need is scattered across dozens of official websites — each written in a different format, updated at different times, and rarely linked to each other.
We built PostGradMed.AU to change that. One place. Clear language. Organised by where you are in your training — whether you're applying for your first internship, exploring specialist pathways after PGY2, or navigating the IMG Standard Pathway from overseas.
We are not affiliated with any government agency, college, or training body. We don't give medical or legal advice. What we do give you is a clear starting point — so you can spend less time searching and more time preparing.
“One place for every step of your postgraduate journey.”
Disclaimer: PostGradMed.AU is an independent educational resource. Information provided is for general guidance only and may not reflect the most current requirements. Always verify directly with AHPRA, the AMC, or the relevant specialist college before making decisions about your registration or training application.
What We Stand For
Independent
PostGradMed.AU has no affiliation with AHPRA, the AMC, any specialist college, or any state health department. Every piece of content is written without commercial influence.
Accurate
Dates, requirements, and pathways are researched directly from official sources. We flag where information is indicative and encourage you to always verify before applying.
For doctors, by doctors
Built by people who have navigated these pathways firsthand. We know what it's like to stare at a confusing HETI portal at midnight the week before an application closes.
Free. Always.
Every guide, every date table, every pathway breakdown — free. No paywalls, no premium tiers. Good information should not cost you money when you're already paying AHPRA fees.
